Cologne/Germany, May 21, 2001.- OnVista AG (DE0005461602), a leading provider of high quality financial information and analysis tools for electronic media in Germany, today published its report on the first quarter 2001. According to the figures released, the company was able to generate group sales in the amount of Euro 3.07 mill. This represents an increase of 241% compared to the same period last year (Euro 0.90 mill.). The group result after tax amounted to Euro -0.19 mill. as planned, compared to Euro –0.24 mill. in the first quarter of 2000. EBIT amounted to Euro –0.55 mill. (Q1 2000: Euro –0.51 mill.), while EBITDA improved from Euro –0.39 mill. (Q1 2000) to Euro –0.12 mill. in the first three months of 2001. The slightly negative group result is in line with the company’s budgeted figures and is attributable to the initial investments in connection with the expansion of the business in Europe, as yet unsupported by any sales revenues. In Germany, OnVista generated a positive first quarter result. The contribution to total group sales from the revenue source licensing amounted to 60% (Euro 1.85 mill.), while the advertising segment contributed 35% (Euro 1.06 mill.) and the eCommerce segment 4% (Euro 0.12 mill.). Contributions to total sales from other sources of income amounted to Euro 0.04 million (1%). All of the company’s sources of income recorded growth in sales. OnVista recorded its strongest sales increase in the licensing segment (+304%). In spite of the muted sentiment in the advertising market, OnVista AG was also able to record a rise in advertising revenues of 155%. With this result, OnVista outperformed the overall advertising market by a significant margin. For the financial year 2001 as a whole, the company is projecting group sales of around Euro 20 million and is planning for a significant improvement in profitability compared to the previous year.
